I shouldn't have bought that outfit!!!!!

I was just thinking about how I need to REALLY clean out my old stuff! I still have toys from when I was a baby in my closet! [img]rolleyes.gif[/img]

I also get a 10 dollar check from my grandma every holiday...I am also going to keep all of the Barnes and Noble gift cards she gives me and buy my dolls a mini doll and Licorice, and that can be more things I can get for my doll too. Oh, and I just remembered that I still have my 10 dollar supon from the club!! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I may ask for a doll for my Birthday and see what my mom says, because she usually says no to that. (My Birthday is just 2 months after the trip so my mom is doing her shopping there)

I may try and make doll clothes and sell them to my friend's little sister and my other friend who has a VERY slim AG collection and wants more. I can sew a little but our sewing machine is like 50 or 60 years old! My mom has had it since she was a tenn, and it was old then too! I could try and Ebay some outfits too...my grandma has A LOT of patterns she used to make me outfits, esepically when I first got Samantha and we couldn't get me a whole lot of clothes from the company.

$110 is a lot of money to spend on AG even though it doesn't seem that way because AG is sooo expensive. I always limit myself to $100 when I go to AG place otherwise I would go crazy and buy too much. Some families can't aford even a doll for their kids so just be careful about complaining about not being able to spend a lot of money at AG. Be thankful for what you can buy! [img]wink.gif[/img]

Do you have any nicer clothing that you have outgrown? Consignment shops will take in your clothing to sell, and you get part of the money. If your mom says it's okay, you might try that. Having a garage sale or yard sale is also an excellent way to make a few extra $$. Since your family is going on vacation, your parents might like the idea of having some extra money to spend. Perhaps if you told them that you would do a lot of the setup work, and run the cash box for them, they might give you a percentage of the profits. I did this when I was a kid, and 10% is pretty good if the sale takes in $200 or more, plus you could make additional money on your own items you sell. Have you tried asking your parents if they have any idea how you could make some extra spending cash for your trip? Also, let them know your dilemma about getting a doll vs. outfits. If your parents won't buy you a doll for your Bday, then you might want to buy it there, and let them know (Hint at them) which outfits you'd really like to get as gifts. They might try to "guide" you one way or the other. That's the parental way of letting you know what not to buy for yourself when a birthday of gift receiving holiday is near. You just have to learn to read between the lines, and really listen to what they're saying. Which doll outifit did you buy? Is it genuine AG that's still in the box? If it is, you can take it with you and use it as exchange at AGP!

If you're serious about using a sewing machine, it doesn't matter how old it is, as long as it's in good shape. All you really need is a straight seam, and every sewing machine has one of those. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I don't know your parents, but it probably can't hurt to ask if they have any odd jobs for you--make sure you explain why you want the money, before you offer to do a job, or else they may think you're greedy. [img]tongue.gif[/img] Many of the other ideas the other women suggested were good too; just run them by your parents first and you should be fine. Good luck!

A lot of people can barely afford food for themselves-this has honestly happened to my mom and I before-let alone $100 dollar dolls and their accessories. Everyone on this message board should be thankful that they have the funds to purchase such wonderful dolls [img]smile.gif[/img] .

None of my dolls have beds yet. I think turning a box into a bed is a good idea that saves money. $110 is a good amount. And there are a lot of ways to make some extra cash.

Lately it has been VERY windy where I live and my mom says she will pay me five dollars for every bag of sticks I pick up in the yard! (The smaller branches blow off a lot) I should get 3 bags or over so that would be about $15! Yee-Ha! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Oh, and some more news, my best friend says she will give me money when I go to buy her a Kirsten doll! [img]biggrin.gif[/img] This is very exciting, because she has always wanted an AG Doll but the only one she got was from an extremely nice neighbor, and it was a Kailey doll. My friend loves the thoughfulness of her neighbor, but has always wanted a historical-which she is finnally getting! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

If you are crafty you could make some pins or another type of craft and try selling them door to door in your neighborhood. You could also get rid of some of your old things on ebay with your parents permission of course. It really isn't that hard and you tend to make quite a bit more than at a yard sale. Having said that a yard sale is quicker and you could even ask other family members (aunts, grandmother etc) to donate unwanted items to your yard sale. You'll be suprised how much you might make.
